Lauren Piepel – CHOREOGRAPHER
Lauren is an emerging dance artist and creative from Hudson, Wisconsin. Her passion for dance started young after she moved back to Wisconsin from Shanghai, China. She trained locally at Hudson Dance Academy for 12 years, 10 of those competitively. She experienced choreographing her own solos for her last 3 years of high school as well as assisting in group dance choreography. After graduating high school, Lauren moved to Southampton, Massachusetts to attend the CLI Conservatory under the direction of Teddy Forance. While at CLI, she has been under careful mentorship of choreographers such as Martha Nichols, Riley Watts, Sienna Lyons, Theresa Stone, Andye J, Ashley Cruz, Kelly Sweeney and Brian Nicholson. Laurens versatility in her training includes ballet, contemporary, lyrical, jazz, hiphop, jazz funk, popping, locking, wacking and voguing. She has trained closely with, and assisted world renowned dancer and choreographer Blake McGrath whose credits include Beyonce, Britney Spears, Madonna and Janet Jackson. She was hand selected by the conservatory to set her choreography “São Paulo” on 50 dancers for their annual student showcase. In addition to choreographing for the conservatory, Lauren has also taught class at Hackworth School of Performing Arts across from CLI. Lauren has simultaneously earned her certificate of the business of entertainment from NYU Tisch School of Dance. She appears in various creative films such as Ashley Cruz’ “Jealous Type”, Robert Green’s “Dance Til You Drop”, and Jessica Castro’s “The Making Of”. In the annual end of year CLI showcase, Lauren will be performing choreography by Holden Maples, Kelly Sweeney, Erica Klein, Martha Nichols, and Teddy Forance. After graduating the conservatory, Lauren will be living in Los Angeles to continue her professional dance and choreography career! She is very excited to be back at HDA sharing her knowledge and passion for dance, art and creativity!
