Pre-Ballet 3/4/5 Year Olds
Children ages 3-5 learn the basic ballet movements and learn to coordinate their bodies. We introduce them to the basic ballet steps of plie, tendu, releve, chasse, passé, and first, second, and fifth position. The dancers also learn how to skip and leap through fun activities. The dancers will also learn the very basics of tumbling throughout the year. We also teach them with song and dance the difference between right and left.
These steps are incorporated into one recital dance along with a finale piece that the whole studio performs.
Junior/Pre-Teen/Teen/Advanced Ballet
Students learn more advanced steps and combinations as well as working on more structured ballet skills. As dancers advance they begin to strength their feet and work toward pointe shoes. We have a separate pointe class for students who are interested in pointe work. Students must be tested and at least 10 years of age. Ballet is the basis from which all dance is derived. Ballet improves technique, grace, coordination, self-esteem, and confidence. Each Ballet class will perform one recital dance along with a finale piece that the whole studio performs.
Kinder-Tap 3/4/5 Year Olds
Children the age 3-5 will learn basic movement skills in tap such as: Shuffle, Heel step, Shuffle step, Buffalos, Irish's, Toe backs, and Chasse. Tap dancers will learn many steps that will make music. This tap class will perform one recital dance along with a finale piece that the whole studio performs.
Junior/Pre-Teen/Teen/Advanced Tap
As older students learn the basic tap moves and start to advance to a more structured class that involves more advanced steps such as: Maxi fords, Irish's, Cramp Rolls, Time Steps, and so on. Students will learn rhythm taping along with straight taping to a variety of music. This tap class will perform one recital dance along with a finale piece that the whole studio performs.
Junior/Pre-Teen/Teen/Advanced Jazz
Jazz students will start learning the basics of Jazz and as they advance steps become more challenging. Beginner students will learn Jazz Squares, Lindy, Chasse, Grande Jete, Chaine Turns, Pirouettes, and hip and shoulder isolations. Each class will begin with proper stretching and jazz warm up. Each Jazz class will perform one recital dance along with a finale piece that the whole studio performs.
Junior/Pre-Teen/Teen/Advanced Hip Hop
Hip Hop style of dance is the new phenomenon. Hip Hop is high energy street movement as seen in many videos on MTV. It emphasizes body movement and rhythms in a distinctive way. Hip Hop also incorporates stretching and isolation exercises to enhance body movement and physical fitness. Each hip hop dancer is required to purchase hip hop shoes that are to be worn only inside. Each Hip Hop class will perform one recital dance along with a finale piece that the whole studio performs.
